The Hip Opener

Hip opener aka Pigeon pose

For any patients wanting to help their spinal care if suffering with tight hips.

Pigeon pose specifically works as a hip opener and forward bend, stretching your thighs, groin, back, piriformis, and psoas. The leg extended to the rear gets a stretch of the psoas and other hip flexor. On the other side, the rotators and outer hip are stretched. It is a good antidote to sitting for long periods. It prepares you for seated postures and backbends.

Ashley from Kalimukti beautifully demonstrates and describes how to do this correctly and starts off by getting the body in to a relaxed state with some intentional breathing.

If you wish to learn more Ashley and the team have an extensive diary full of different types of yoga and Pilates classes in the studio.
